36. I "enjoy" it.

I'm kinda a unique case, because I'm sorta this amatuer historian kinda thingy. I find it interesting in many ways to view it through more modern/distant eyes. I don't get to see it every year, so the few years I have (and no, I don't watch every minute either) it is interesting in so many ways.

Make no mistake, I understand what MSNBC is doing. They are doing everything there "on the cheap". And as a few others have pointed out, they could do so much more in many ways. They could have a variation of "pop up notes" in it to delve into some of the difference.

This is one of these situations though that qualify as "TV's have knobs". It isn't for everyone, and there are other options. People who have particularly emotional responses that they would rather avoid, should exercise their options.
