Reaction was irrational. The "let's portray all firearms owners" as lunatics was and is irrational. The continued attempts to "sound reasonable" while attempting to restrict the rights of law abiding citizens in order to force a change in their behavior is indicative of anger and control issues that could probably be addressed by a good therapist.
