(110,261 posts)It was such a shock that first time to realize that that CREEPY OLD GUY in the truck was trying to get me to notice him. Yuk!
The road into my downtown was a two-lane state road that drew a lot of trucks and, as I walked the four blocks into town, I could pretty much count on a few honks coming from few different trucks every time I walked. As you know, it was anything but flattering. I felt judged and creeped out -- not flattered or complimented.
When I was thirteen I walked to a babysitting job a few blocks away from my house. On the way, I had to pass a house where some workers were taking a break from a remodeling job. All of a sudden, a group of men had surrounded me on the sidewalk, walking behind me, beside me, making noises at me and comments about me to each other. For those few seconds I was so scared and humiliated! And I'm sure they just thought it was a big joke -- a bunch of workers weren't going to attack me in broad daylight in our quiet little town. But I didn't know what they were going to do -- I was only 13!
