(11,495 posts)I don't know anything about the author, but as you mentioned it was "wrong", according to some here, to attack the messenger, Snowden, who was a Ron Paul supporter, because it was the "message" about the NSA spying on "everyone" in the country that was important.
Well this guy does make some good points about those who don't want compromise, but instead want everything "their way", pretty much like the tea party seems to be, no compromise. I find it hard to believe that anyone could think that a president, any president, could get thing done without compromising when there are people in both parties that are not going to agree with everything a president wants to do. Republicans used to be pretty much in lock step, but now with the extreme right tea party members that is not true anymore, nor would it be true if a republican was in the WH and tea party members were still in office.
I know from experience over the years the compromise gets more done than the "my way or the highway" attitude. It may not be exactly what a person wants, but it is usually better than nothing at all. I know that people are angry we didn't get a single payer system for health care reform, but since there was no way republicans would have voted for on, and some democrats would not have either, we got the best thing we could, which I believe to be a foundation for a real universal health care program in the future.
