24. Machin, self styled "independent Dem", might also vote against Summers

And yes, I hope Tester's additional no vote is good news.

Appointing Summers, a major architect of the Wall Street Heist of the American economy, would achieve a certain criminal symmetry. It it also brings an obnoxious antiwomen symmetry as well, since Summers notoriety for discounting, marginalizing women would be rewarded by granting this arrogant Oaf a job for which Janet Y appears infinitely more qualified. Not a difficult distinction for JY, since Larry Summers track record screams that Summers has been wrong about everything economic...from repealing Glass Steagall to the necessary size of the stimulus. He couldn't even run Harvard without losing them billions of dollars in investments and slurring women scientists...at a prestigious meeting of (male and female) distinguished scientists BTW

Summers is Obama's Peter Principle Pal, his personal Bull in the China Closet of the fragile American Recovery; Obama's going to fight fiercely and blindly for his confirmation. So it would be terrific if Summers got cut as early as the Banking Committee vote. It'll ultimately depend on what the PTB on Wall Street want; they're the ueber boss/campaign donors to most on this Committee.
