(22,165 posts)The us vs "them" mentality continues ... if anything it may be even stronger than in the 1990s. suburbanites and folk living out-state do not bat an eye as pensioners face losing all, as the DIA's treasures are sold off, as anything of value is simply being handed over to "creditors"
This, however, is a really poor example. The vast majority of the city was not impacted by the City Light Board blackout (most of the citizenry receives their power from DTE). It was a real pain in the @ss downtown .. but, large swaths of the populace did not have their power cut.
Commuters seem to be enraged more than the citizens of the city (more folk from outside the city were impacted by the institutional power outages).
Orr does want to sell off the City Light board and very well used this to make his point ... but, the vast majority of the city suffered no black out whatsoever. (unfortunately storms did disrupt power all over the region in the days that followed)
