Husband has been a truck driver for many years now. It's how we live and breathe.
Many drivers can't go three days without driving. It's a significant blow to the paycheck. Not only that, for it to make a real difference you need thousands of drivers to descend on DC and that will not happen.
Don't get me wrong, I support truckers' rights all the way. I've always believed that in order for anything to really change in America, truck drivers shutting down for a day or two was the way to do it.
The reality is that it will not happen. Most can't afford it and those that could won't risk their loads. Also, the vast majority are company drivers whose jobs are on the line should they take that step. A few owner operators might do it, but most won't. It all boils down to money.
