All I am saying is that people should be aware of what they are doing when they participate in threads like this.

DU already had an episode in which detailed personal profiles of DUers were posted here by someone who had merely watched the board for awhile. And that was just someone doing it on a lark. In 2013, identifying information has value, and every thread like this builds profiles of DU users. Data mining is big business, and not especially reputable.

Threads seeking personal information...about age, family structure, where people have lived, where people went to college, what jobs they have....are constant here. People continue to treat DU as though it were a little private board where we are all one big, happy family.

It's really not.
