(7,549 posts)I have had a number of counselors over the years. One would always go to the "you have to let everyone have their own opinion line and you have to respect it." I got kind of huffy and said not "when its based on ignorance and is morally wrong." She just said back they are still entitled to their opinion even then. So I just shut up at that point, though I still wanted to argue.
My current one is actually pretty liberal. I think she just generally wants to believe there is good in everyone even the "haters".
I told her the other day that "despite all the claims that this is such a "Christian" nation that I think that things sure seem to be heading into a "survival of the fittest mode" and if you show anything like individuality, difference, compassion, or weakness, or sickness they just want to thin you out of the herd." She told me she probably shouldn't be saying this but that she fears the same thing. She believes though it is all caused by their own individual fears. I don't disagree I just think blind hatred plays a part too.
