177. Again, it has nothing to do with minority rights.

The undemocratic nature of the senate favors some people over others. Some minorities (such as the people of Staten Island) are even less represented than they would be in an equal democratic system. The way to defend against tyranny of the majority is not to take an arbitrary group of people and give them more power than anyone else. If that were true, then you should be celebrating the fact that the richest 1% have disproportionate control over government as "minority rights".

The whole notion of a state as a "voting bloc" is arbitrary and essentially just an excuse for giving some people more power than others. You might like this because you may be one of the people who has disproportionate representation, but that doesn't make it right, any more than the fact that Mitt Romney and the Koch Brothers like the fact that rich people have more power than poor people in our system of government.
