You see the Federal govt as the sovereign entity, representing all the people of the country. You say a State is "just" a political entity, as if it was something made up for convenience of voting. That is false. The "United States" of America was not an agreement formed by all the people of the country. It was a union of the STATES. The SOVEREIGN STATES that agreed to form a union and set up the rules of that agreement. THE PEOPLE WERE NOT SOVEREIGN. It is NOT "The United People of America." I know that's the way you wanted it to be, but it wasn't.

The States are still sovereign, within the confines of the agreement of the Union. Many people cannot grasp that, including you. Violations of that agreement has and will cause wars.
