(20,906 posts)Kieran is a popular Irish name, hell it was one of the names I seriously considered for my own son 22 years ago. Most people don't know what it means and I don't think they'd really care, nor should they. The important thing is that a needy child was adopted by a loving family. It's not as if they named him "Adolf Hitler" or some such shit, either. Sometimes the left can be as bad as the right in stirring up stupid "controversies" that are anything but, and seeing problems where there are none.
I also considered the name "Cameron", as I loved it, until I saw from a book of baby names that it actually meant "crooked nose" in Gaelic. Um, no thanks, lol. I wonder how many people named Cameron actually know that or would really care?
And as far as the confusion over the number of grandchildren-that's pretty typical for a lot of older men, too, I don't see any issue there, either. My grandfather only had 13 grandchildren altogether and he never could quite remember the number, lol.
