This piece says Australia has placed kratom in their Schedule 9, the most restrictive schedule - equivalent to the US Schedule I.

It appears, at least to me, that the effects of kratom are individualized - for some people it's fine, great shit, and completely harmless; for others it will completely fuck you up. And if it turns out that kratom is the "blue pill" they took, they were at the far end of the "fuck you up" scale.
Their arraignments are Tuesday. We should know what they took then.
Based on available data, members noted that habitual users of mitragynine could develop marked withdrawal syndromes, including hostility, aggression, rhinitis, inability to work, excess tears, muscle and bone aches and jerky limb movement.
