15. I walked out of a Church once, a very long time ago.

There was a sermon about immoral and depraved alcoholics.

My wonderful GFather was an alcoholic. He couldn't go near any alcohol and usually he went for years without slipping. Every so often he would have one drink and before I knew it, he was seriously ill spitting blood. His illness would scare the hell out of me as I loved him so much.
Everyone who knew him thought highly of him. Very few outside of family and his immediate circle of friends knew of his problem. No one would ever think of describing him as immoral or depraved.

Anyway, as I was exiting the Church, the ushers asked why I was leaving. I told them that I needed a drink. The sermon had awakened a strong need for the "spirits".

I never went back to that Church.
