(24,411 posts)...because you just can't make statements like these without profound consequences. Too many people are enlightened today and we aren't putting up with bullshit bigotry like this from billionaires.
Barilla just gave people a reason NOT to buy their pasta. You can bet Barilla is clamoring for market share. They spend millions on expensive televisions ads and I see their coupons in the Sunday newspapers. Their marketing people work night and day trying to grab more market share.
Well now they've gone and done it. They've just offended at least 30 percent of the general population (I'm taking into account that 30 percent are bigots/Republicans and 40 percent will be unaware of the bigoted comments).
This could really affect their marketshare.
I'm a middle-aged, married, heterosexual mom from the suburbs, but I support equality and my gay and lesbian brothers and sisters. Barilla can suck it. I won't be buying their pasta anytime soon.
They're obviously trying to walk back their statements. I'm sure their PR department is working overtime to repair damage. These elitist scumbags think they can spout off their hatred, and then say "so sorry" when they realize their bottom line is affected. Thanks for letting us know what you really are, Barilla Pasta.
