(3,247 posts)Everything in the OP applies to me, except that fear and despair rather than anger are my corner of the DU experience. The fact that supposed liberals and progressives can say the things daily said here, and behave the way they daily do, is a major mood-deflator. Makes me take a jaundiced view of my fellow Americans far more than anything seen in real life. Obama and gangs of online bullies are not normally things I'd associate mentally at all. Because of DU, they are irreparably associated.
Problems seem insoluble at the national and international levels, and anything overtly political doesn't feel like a mood-elevating experience at all. But dealing with specific local places and issues involving nature and wilderness provides a more manageable way o feel connected with something progressive.
