In reply to the discussion: I am a government employee [View all]Democrat 4 Ever
(3,941 posts)54. I'm a government employee, too. Except I'm low man on the toten pole so I'm told I will be expected
to show up and man the phones but will not get paid. Last shutdown the employees did get paid, this one with the atmosphere in DC, they said don't expect it even if you have to work. If they are going to shut it down, shut down everything, even essential services and let the repugs feel the full wrath of the country. They are playing with people's lives while mugging for the cameras. And according to Huff Po more than one Congresscritter is wafting with boozy smell as they come off the floor.
Dumb question, does this mean no mail service, too? I know they are self-funded (while losing money hand over fist) but does the mail stop during this time?
