(7,499 posts)I am so very, very sorry! I know it hurts like hell. I hope your buddy went quickly and didn't suffer. In December, we had to have one of our 12 and a half year old bichons euthanized due to liver failure. It nearly killed me, and I still feel the pain of his loss. On the day we had him put to sleep, my husband had to go to the post office. One of the ladies who works there asked him why he was at the post office in the middle of the day instead of at work. My husband explained that we had had to put our dog down. An older gentleman in line behind him said "I'm sorry. I've lost a lot of family in my time, and a lot of friends too, but there is nothing like losing your dog." At that point, everyone in the post office grew quiet as if they too knew the truth of his words. Although I wasn't there, I'll always remember that. For many of us, our dogs are not only members of the family, but our best friends as well.
I will keep you in my thoughts and send lots of good vibes your way. And again, I am so very sorry for the loss of your buddy.
