54. Knew a guy with a pet alligator.

In a city apartment in Montreal! He set up a wading pool for it in it's own bedroom when it was quite small and made a "ladder" to get in and out which was just a towel it could climb up. He said the critter sat and stared at the towel for hours, then, when he finally had it figured out he ran over, climbed in the pool and never had a problem getting in and out after that!
