A beautiful black cat!
I prefer dogs and have several huge Leonbergers but while I ma not a cat person, I have had cats for about twenty years.
Until a few years ago, I was sans cat and decided I needed a small low maintenance beast. The local shelter had a bunch of cats, as usual. I really like short hair tabbies, but with a cat, I am more interested in personality and temperament.
The shelter rep, kind of a crazy cat lady, when I asked her to find me the cat, was interested in my thinking. She asked why I wanted her to pick the cat for me. Since I was interested in personality most, I knew she would have a better feel for the personalities of the cats there. You really can't understand a cat in a short visit!!
I was offered two cats, a classic tabby and a black cat. Pretty similar personalities...
The shelter lady explained that in this area black cats have difficulty finding homes. Since everything was equal in personality, why not a black cat?
This cat is spoiled, beautiful, and great. I never had any bias towards black cats, but I suggest that anyone looking for a cat give black cats a chance.
