37. I think your argument has a lot of merit...

I had a short conversation with conservative friend the other day (HE doesn't call himself a Republican anymore, because he says the REPUBLICAN party has become too establishment, and therefore, too liberal) and he very quickly equated Pres. Obama to Pres. Jr., in that "neither ONE of them had done a DAMN THING to help the country, and that hunting down OBL was just a feather in Obama's cap that he decided to put there FOR SHOW, because OBL had become "irrelevant"". Yes, I agree with you that they are just going to try and "...just blame it on the cook.", as it were, but I don't think it will work. I think this because too many middle-of-the-road, independent, otherwise-would-be-Republican-voters KNOW how badly the last Administration let things TRULY get fucked up in this Country, and now they all know better than to let themselves get suckered again. Some of them might have considered voting for Romney, but through the course of just the Primary fights he has so destroyed his own credibility that none of them will trust him if he's the GOP nom. All of the people I know are openly discussing policy issues in a way they never have before, friends of mine that NEVER used to have the slightest inclining in American Politics are clicking over to Current.com for their weekly news fixes, ALL of the laid-off Union Labor guys I have the honor of working with at my second job are fired up over what they see as a powerful, (if overall small) push-back against Union busting by State Governments, and my girlfriends kids (10 & 8) and my daughter, (13) were happy as hell over the repeal of DADT and were pissed that the SOPA bill might have the slightest chance of EVER becoming Law. My girlfriend, who HATESHATESHATES the talking heads on the news with the fury of a thousand suns, said to me the other day she heard Newt talking about 2$/gallon gas and she thought "is he NUTS? Even I know that isn't something the President can REALLY control and this guy sounds like the kid at school who says ""if you put me in charge, we will have recess all day and candy for lunch." I might not really like the Pres., but no way in HELL am I voting for THAT moron."

WOW I didn't mean to be so long winded, and yeah, I DO actually know about paragraphs lol, but my point is, wether the GOP wants it to happen or NOT, the American Public is discussing American Politics, and I believe the results, long term, WILL NOT be to the GOP's liking. They can bitch and cry about it all they want, but it won't change the fact that they did this to themselves, and EVENTUALLY, as we always do in this nation, We the People find a way to punish intentional stupidity.
And its happening NOW, were in the midst of it. I know sometimes it feels like it can be hard to see, but I promise you it's there, it's REAL and it's NOT going to go away. (Much to the chagrin of my conservative friend =))
P.S.--where's the damn spellchecker button now?
