(3,310 posts)... I was wondering about the, "$10,000", mentioned in your post, too. I had gall bladder removal surgery this past January and the total costs, including 2 emergency room visits, ultra sound and CAT(on successive visits) along with the hospitalization, OR and surgeon's fees(he waived all after what Medicare B paid, bless his heart) it came to $18,000, of which I had about $1,500 to pay out of pocket. I know, I should have been under a supplementary plan, but procrastination seems to be my favorite hobby.
Needless to say, the surgeon chewed out the OR director as I sat in the exam room following my second ER visit. They should have never let me go home after the first one, and I ended up having to have emergency surgery as I had 8 gall stones and my gall bladder was the size of a flip phone, ready to burst.
