5. I wish they would film my dad too

My dad left the Republican party when they went after Clinton. Dad was a moderate and he and I always talked politics.
I have always been a democrat. Less than a couple of weeks ago I asked him if he thought the government would be shutdown and he said you better believe it. Then he went on a weird tirade about how Dems will be just as bad when a Republican becomes president and they will use the same tactics to block everything. I said Whoa, dad, what's up with you? He said all politicians were scum and just a tad above lawyers. I spoke to him about this massive shift (luckily he stated he still respects the President) but he was off his rockers with everything else. Then he started saying that Obama was negotiating with Iran and Syria but not the Republicans. I thought that HAS to be a sound bite from somewhere. I asked him if Fox news was still on at his Physical Therapy Rehab Gym and he went silent. I said Dad, I warned you not to let that filter through and laughed a bit since it was our little joke. He replied I listen to NPR too and then went silent again. I could tell he was angry.

I started to hear that same sound bite about Syria and Iran all over the place from the Republicans. Knew it.

It was a very uncomfortable moment. He won't go back to being a republican I think but to have the one person I could always discuss politics with shut down like that was a sad day indeed. He used to be incredibly intuitive about politics and a great mentor. Won't be talking politics with him unless he comes back down to earth.

Too bad they don't have political rehab.
