there are a few things they understand---like propaganda
and fear
and manipulation
the powerful among them understand ownership=power=money
But I don't think they excel at long term planning, certainly not in terms of long term planning that considers the good--what people need and social trends, because they don't understand people, not from an empathetic perspective.
They want their way, and when they don't get it, they know how to create chaos (throw a snot-nosed tantrum, in the common parlance).
