34. Long story short - I no longer have any living relatives of first or second degree

except for my kid sister, who was born a clingy brat and never outgrew it. She's a first class passive-agressive borderline personality. Blames it on the fact that I mostly ran with my older brothers and ignored her, but she's such a BLEEP! that I told her more than once it was better than other things I could think of; let's not go into gory details here.

So she ran off with some yahoo who gave her a bunch of kids and beat her black and blue, then left. Apparently I had something to do with that too. So you can guess what political track she's followed. Now that she's unable to work anymore and her state slashed her social net to shreds a few months ago, she decided I should let her move in with me. I read her the riot act and told her what the rules would be, knowing what she'd do. She cussed me out, said as usual for the thousandth time that I'm dead to her (except when she needs me), and slammed down the phone. At least she had the sense to call first instead of showing up at my door with a pickup full of junk and big dogs like someone else did last year.

My dearest friend in all the world, still in L.A., knows she can come stay anytime as long as she needs or wants. But then she's nicer and saner than those other 2 put together. It might sound wrong to some people, but to me blood doesn't always come first. I'll wish any crackpot relatives the best in the world, but they're not bringing their filth into my house. Period. And I don't tolerate my peace being disturbed either. Sad, but I've never been shy about parameters.
