85. A similar thing has happened to my wife

For 20 years she was largely apolitical and she and I could agree on many subjects of political interest. She was pro-environment, pro-animal rights.

Then, her RW mother moved from Ohio to California to be near us. They see each other often and are in constant email contact. Her mother has inundated her with those rancid, whacked out RW emails that lie, mislead and distort everything. When Obama got elected, they both went right wing batshit overboard. My wife joined the NRA because she said she's interested in gun rights all of a sudden. In our fist 20 years of marriage, the subject of guns never came up. Ever. Suddenly, the issue is near and dear to her heart.

I told her she joined the NRA because they are the most vehemently anti-Obama organization and she could get the best anti-Obama stuff from them. She responded with rage.

She's completely indoctrinated now. We never discuss political issues. When we did, she pegged the needle at the Archie Bunker hard right and we ended up screaming.

We're approaching our 26th anniversary, and the last 6 years have been the most miserable ever.

What ever could cause someone to change so radically and so forcefully?

Conservatives totally suck.
