If the debt ceiling isn't raised all spending will have to be cut to make the debt payments...that is the law. The govt will have to cut the budget. Remember, the govt is required to pay its debts but there is no contitutional requirement that the debt ceiling be raised.

It would be devestating and that is not what I advocate.
