Laura Schlessinger retired after repeatedly using the "N" word when speaking to an African American [View all]

woman on her radio show. I could not believe her insensitivity and ignorance. The meaning, hurt, and violent history of that word was lost to her. And how that word still conjures painful memories to so many meant nothing - her response was to "get over it" - it's hard to get over a word that symbolizes lynchings, murders, prejudices, discriminations, etc.
