(89,896 posts)she couldn't really believe in Jesus Christ - at least not the Jesus Christ I learned about in 14 years of Catholic school (pre-K to senior year of high school). I was taught that to follow Christ, you had to keep his commandments. Love God. Love thy neighbor as thyself. With special endorsement of the Beatitudes and those little items tucked into the book of Matthew and elsewhere about "whatever you do to the least of these, you do to Me."
THAT'S why I say she can't possibly be a true Christian. She can certainly claim that she is. I'm not supposed to be judgmental, either, mind you. She can go ahead and wrap herself around the Cross of Christ all day every day and 30 times on Sunday. And we all know she does as often as possible, especially when there are cameras and microphones nearby. But the values she vocalizes and preaches to her followers strike me as ANYTHING but what Jesus taught. She thinks it's just fine to shit on the least of these - the poor, the homeless, the sick, the abandoned, the "wretched refuse" as it were - the same ones who are mentioned on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty in that "Give me your tired, your poor..." poem.
Just silly little stupid stuff like that...
