by Kristi Noem (aka the Gnome), and this is the general attitude of far too many ranchers and farmers here and it drives me absolutely batshit insane. Fucking selfish, provincial assholes. Any other part of the country is not "real" America, so it doesn't count what happens there. And "those people" are just elite pansy easterners who aren't as "hardy and reliant" as they are, never mind that they've sucked down more in federal farm subsidies than those "elite pansy easterners" will ever earn and those "elite pansy easterners" are the ones paying the gazillions for their goddamned subsidies.

I'm so disgusted with this state and our idiotic rep right now that I'm ready to throw something. Everyone is all up in arms that Mt. Rushmore is closed and demanding that the guv just "stand up to the feds" and remove the closing gates and cones from the entrance. But it costs almost 20 grand per DAY to operate the park, and there is no fucking way in hell that this state would have that much money and be able to ever permanently operate it on its own. And these fucking idiots would be the first to scream and complain about all the state money going to it if they did try to do so.

And Noem is fucking useless, as is our repuke Sen. Thune. She's a Sarah Palin clone who's dumber than a box of bird shit and who bows down to the shrine of the Tea Party every night, and she apparently does not believe that she represents the entire state but only those who completely agree with her on everything and who voted for her. If you don't agree with her on everything and parrot what she wants to hear, she WILL NOT LISTEN to you and WILL NOT RESPOND. Period. It's as if you don't even exist. Of course, naturally, her own family farm has received more than four million in federal farm subsidies over the past two decades. She's the very definition of hypocrisy. The Blue Dog Dem she replaced, Stephanie Herseth Sandlin, may not have always been the perfect Democrat, but she was lightyears better than this stupid idiot we're now stuck with.
