11. 1st Time Poster-Spoke to a staffer in my (R) Senator's Office

Just spoke to a staffer in (R) Mark Udall's office about 15 minutes ago to express my strong dissatisfaction about the Republican position of shutting down the government and their stance on defunding the ACA. Staffer (Lucas) tried to "school" me on the horrors of "Obamacare". I told him of my wife's and my 54 combined years of military service and he started lecturing me about how my wife and I swore to uphold the constitution. I stopped him there and reminded him that Mark Udall also swore to uphold the constitution which also means recognizing and supporting the laws of our nation. Then I walked him down the path of the ACA being a law and the senator has an obligation to uphold this law and how laws are repealed under proper order. then i asked him if repealing the ACA involves shutting down the government and I was aghast when he stated "yes." When I called him on this, he said I was putting words in his mouth. AGAIN, the staffer said that their actions in shutting down the government is how they are attempting to repeal the ACA! Straight from the horses mouth. I gave him a few more choice words about the Republican tactic and then called the offices of my Democratic representatives to urge them to stand their ground.

This is my first post but I've been lurking, enjoying and agreeing with DU since I was a young sergeant. Thank you DU for the clarity.
