That is but one piece of this issue. We've been in a shut down now for 14 days and other than his idiotic speech, Cruz hasn't been in any position of power to do or not do anything.

He may in fact do just what you said, but up until now he's had no actual power over anything excepting voting or not voting on what has already passed the Senat. The largest bulk of what has happened so far has been due to the house's idiocy and Boehner. Neither of which has anything to do with Cruz except in the most tangential, party related way.
