104. I'm going to argue as follows:

because the only reason they have a chip on their shoulder is because Rush Limbaugh has been allowed to put it there UNCHALLENGED.
There is no reason an L.A. or N.Y. Liberal can't go into West Virginia or anywhere else in the "old south" as it were, and completely clean house in there, but it will take time, and it will take BALLS, and it will take the honesty to admit that in a lot of ways, American "Liberalism" has sold them out.

It will take standing on the summit of a mountaintop destroyed by Big Coal and saying "yeah, you DON'T have to put up with this if you don't WANT TO." It will take going into the most uneducated small towns and telling them that "there's no reason you CAN'T learn what (I) got to learn; small towns don't have to mean small minds, and I don't think a small mind is a thing you possess by any stretch."

A lot of these people have a lot of fear about a lot of things...it's a fear that has been put there by people who would rather use them as a source of profit than give a damn about them, and reversing that will take time and a lot of work, but I say, it's work that is well worth the effort in terms of the "long view". These are not people who will naturally side with Wall Street, and that makes them, potentially, OUR PEOPLE. That's why "flyover country" is important.
