There is so much wrong with this screed I'm not sure where to start except to say that you are so monumentally wrong as to rival the ignorance of the teaklanners.

The VAST MAJORITY of farmers, particularly family farms, DO NOT get gigantic subsidies -- those go to Big Agra, the ones MANY of our Representatives, from BOTH parties, are beholden to.

Honest to goddess I've no idea what that means. This is what I can tell you. Sometimes I spend time at one of our local food banks to help out. If you're there during the day what you see is farmers, large and small, showing up to donate produce. Lots of it. My guess is that donations from farmers are easily 60% of the food received by this organization and this organization feeds a LOT of people 7 days a week. I've been around farmers. No, we often don't agree with each other politically but all-in-all I find that they're good, honest, hard-working people that are often the first ones there when you need a hand. I'm not sure where you got your idea of what a farmer is but it seems to not be grounded in reality. Here's one of our more famous local farmers:
