(5,562 posts)but when a new mother is looking after a new baby as well as a home, possibly other children, often a (low paying) job on top of it, there is little time and energy left over for a workout program. So no, having kids isn't a reason to neglect your health, its just that everything else you HAVE to do takes priority. Speaking from past experience, when a person is so exhausted from all the running around for everyone else, all you want is to put your feet up for a few minutes not pump weights as good as it may be for you.
I could be wrong but my guess is that this buff woman doesn't work outside the home, possibly even has help to run the home at that. Or if she works, she has lots of help with the housework and the kids because she ain't doing it all by herself.
