The article says "the appellate body vacated the sentence and remanded the case back to the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas" due to the fact that the defendant wanted to change his plea at sentencing time and wasn't allowed.

He raped her because she was black, but the sentence being vacated had nothing -- at least officially -- to do with race.
