206. The fact that southern liberals exist and are on DU is an inconvenient truth.

It is an inconvenient truth that many on DU would like to pretend doesn't exist.

What you say about those who hate southerns on DU will always hate southerners on DU is true, but the problem with giving these threads a "rest" is that it kicks the can down the road. Liberals in the south could use a lot of help when elections come around. We are faced with some of the worst gerrymandering, vote rigging, voter list scrubbing, and other law breaking by Republicans every single election down here. We try to raise hell about it down here, but until y'all look into it too and start spreading the news nationwide, nothing gets done. What happens in the south, that is wrong, stays in the south, unless and until the entire nation hears about it. Otherwise, it gets swept under the rug and the "good ol' boys" club gets to stay in charge in the worst red areas down here.

The problem is that when we do try to spread the word or ask for help in how to deal with the severe Republican problem we have down here, we get told we are less than and basically are expected to wave a magic want to make the extreme right wing go away. It doesn't work that way. The entire south would be a liberal mecca if I had that magic wand. I'm sure if many other southern DUers had that magic wand, it would be too.

Kicking the can down the road and looking down on us for not being able to move mountains in the midst of all the bullshit gerrymandering and other crap we have to deal with is not helping one bit. Telling us to just move is not going to solve the problem either.

You want more Democratic presidents and congressmen and congresswomen? Great! We do too. Help us fight the damn gerrymandering for a start you will see a marked difference in how elections come out down here. Solving that issue, alone, would make a big difference. I think you would be surprised.

Telling us to STFU, basically, is not going to solve the problems that the country has with Republicans holding the country hostage with their backassward crap.

Liberals in the south have to put up with an insurmountable amount of bullshit down here. We don't need bullshit when we come to DU too.
