(9,565 posts)is or isn't trying to promote a gang. Schools are for the common best interest. Not for the principal to spend his time deciding whether individuals are or aren't in a gang. It's ludicrous to even ask for it. Sorry, you and I will continue to disagree on the matter. I have no problem tucking my cross into my shirt in a public school setting. It doesn't make me less of a Christian. I would like to see more outrage directed at the individuals who are turning it into a gang symbol. Also, I didn't think the Catholic Schools allowed it, so I did a quick google search. The first thing that came up:

I feel for the young man and his loss, yet even if for the wrong reason, the school is correct in asking the young man to remove the Rosary Beads. I teach in a CATHOLIC SCHOOL, and we do NOT allow the wearing of Rosary Beads. They are NOT an adornment. They are to be used for prayer and prayer alone and it is against the teachings of the Catholic Church to wear them. That said, unfortunately, they have become a gang symbol for many local hoods
