4. personally, i find claims like "Pete said X" intrinsically more credible than "Pete didn't say X"

Especially when multiple 3rd-parties claim the affirmative. Who is the white house to speculate on what Sessions didn't say? Maybe the WH staff present just didn't hear him say it. Anyway for Sessions to deny saying it is expected, but to hide behind the white house statement as a defense is weak tea indeed.
