13. I feel for you

and had a conversation with my mother yesterday that turned to politics about halfway through and it just totally ruined my day. My mother and father are good people, and while they have always leaned conservative, they drink up whatever Mike Huckabee says. My mom is worse than my dad and she told me yesterday how awful Obamacare is and how it's hurting so many people and how this country has lost all its morals and on and on and on. In her eyes, the morality of the country is determined by whether or not we okay gay marriage and has nothing to do with giving people food stamps or health care. When she said Obama has refused to negotiate with the other side, I temporarily lost it.

I hate this and on top of it, she feels like she failed because I quit attending her fundamentalist church years ago. That still rears its ugly head ever so often as well as it did yesterday.

Like yours, my husband also tells me to just smile and nod my head because they are older and not going to change.

It is hard.
