(81,265 posts)Glad you're here! It's just heart-breaking, isn't it? I started noticing years ago that somehow the term "do-gooder" had turned into a pejorative. You were putting somebody down when you called them a "do-gooder." As though it was somehow bad, now, to do good, or be nice to people, or try to be helpful, or show sympathy or empathy when somebody was down and out. Somehow that's become a bad thing. And it just makes NO sense to me at all. Sure doesn't sound like any kind of Christian thing to do. Yet I'm sure the same people consider themselves very Christian, maybe moreso than you, certainly. But their behavior says the opposite.
It's just so disappointing that so many Americans have embraced this. I think it's the hate-radio crowd that's made it okay to bring this kind of shit out of the closet and into the open and acceptable. They've been pounding away at it for years now. And it's worked. And it's tearing our whole country apart.
