(493 posts)Feel free to contact me concerning this area. We are transplants from Ohio. Been here a few years though.
I simply came home from work one day in Ohio and the wife said "I have this great offer that I was approached about in Brentwood Tn....they will even buy our house here in Ohio and move us, fly us to Nashville 4 times to look for a house and cover all of our closing costs on a house there in Nashville"....I said "Where do I sign". 25 days later we were living in Brentwood. We simply watched them pack all of our stuff up in Ohio, (we packed over-night bags) jumped in our 2 vehicles and headed for Tn. They put us in an executive home for 3 days while they unpacked and set us up in our new home....was a really weird experience as we basically done "nothing".
Yes my wife has worked pretty hard her entire life and likewise did I. I decided to retire at 40 years of age and spend more time with our kids (ages 7,8, and 13 now). I owned a business in Ohio and managed to sell it to a competitor that would ask every year if I'd sell.
I guess the most intimidating thing to me was that this is the "bible belt". There are some churches around here that are at least 500K sq ft and a majority of the population attends...however I'm not a church goer myself (my mother took me once for easter when I was maybe 8 years old). I envisioned folks knocking on our door asking us to attend church but no one has even ever mentioned religion or attending church to me since we have been here.
Also if you have Children Brentwood is a highly ranked school district (including private and prep schools). It is #4 in Tenn and I think it's in the top 200 of all high school in the U.S. My oldest is a Freshman and takes "honors" classes.....I'd say she has 2.5-3 hours of homework a night.
I am also not much of a country music fan (never listen to it) but there are a lot of those stars in the area. I live about 1/4 a mile away from Dolly. My neighbor is a big time producer in the industry and my other neighbor behind me does something with the group "Lady Antebellum". Oprah also lives here...you should see her house!!!!!
Is a nice area and if you ever need some insight then feel free to hit me up.
