In reply to the discussion: Jimmy Carter’s Grandson Running For Governor of Georgia [View all]JHB
(38,383 posts)6. No, that was James Carter IV...
...a cousin of the guy running.
Jason Carter, a state senator, announced his plans in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He said he will not be running on the family name but rather his own vision.
***
(President) Carter's family has been somewhat active in national politics in recent years.
His oldest son, Jack, unsuccessfully ran for a Nevada U.S. Senate seat in 2006, and a grandson, James Carter IV, helped leak Mitt Romney's infamous "47 percent" video during the 2012 presidential election.
Jason Carter, 38, is Jack Carter's son. He was elected to the state Senate in a 2010 special election.

He's the person responsible for the "47%" video that took the wind out of Shitt Romney's campaign.
