(22,675 posts)and neither are your generalizations. We simply disagree and it's to a point where I want to respond.
Not really a big deal, just an irritant.
This post compared human conditions we are born with, to conditions that we could conceivably control.
I realize there are approximately (is it 5 %?) of obese people who are not in any way responsible for their plight.
And I also realize it is mostly their problem to live with, but sometimes not.
(have you been squeezed up breathlessly against a window in an airplane by someone who spills into more than half your seat? Or people you need to have special chairs for with 4x4 legs?)
Then in the post it seems people went on about addictions etc. - they are also not comparable in any way you stretch it.
And yeah, I for one reserve the right to say I would be embarrassed by a President who looks like CChristie did.
Because in 95 % (again I could be off in the number) of cases it would suggest to our citizens and those of the rest of the world poor impulse control and addiction to a substance, and possibly someone who would put off dealing with a national crisis to finish gulping down a whole chicken.
(I've seen that eaten for lunch by a person who was 350 pounds which is less than CChristie used to be)
But I must say, in all fairness, I cannot conceive of a President who would embarrass me more than George W. Bush did. EVER.
About addictions, I HATED that I smoked, when I did. And quitting was the hardest thing I ever did after 30 years of it. But they have nothing to do with the post.
