(10,777 posts)Like many others, I thought their products were overpriced fashion statements. But I wound up buying several Apple devices over the last few years anyway. I was coerced into most of these purchases (not by Apple), but I ended up loving the products.
More importantly, I ended up feeling like I got value for my money.
Feel free to disagree, but I think I'm plenty smart enough to configure and customize my own devices. But I don't have either the time or the inclination to do the sort of endless tweaking some love to do. I just want my devices to come out of the box working "right". For me, the Apple products did just that.
They have been really durable, too. I still do most of my passive surfing with my first gen iPad. It's going on four years old and it still works as well as ever. (And we aren't gentle with devices at my house. No laptop would have survived this long.)
The software has been stable and reliable on all of my Apple devices. The excellent selection of apps and media through iTunes has been a plus as well.
I'm sure companies other than Apple make great devices too, but consistent quality is a thing I have grown to increasingly value. I have bought so many crap products in my lifetime (some from Samsung, some from LG, some from Dell, but *especially* from HP), that I tend to stick with a brand that tends not to disappoint me, even if that means paying a little more.
