6. Mulching the chopped leaves into the lawn is great for the lawn,

whatever your neighbors may think. We do this every fall, with good results. Have to do it a few times each fall or the leaf mass just gets too thick for the mower.

If I ever have too much to go into the lawn, I just round the excess up into a pile with the mower, rake it up and use the chopped up leaves for mulch over the garlic bed, which is newly planted in late November, so the timing is perfect.
