(297 posts)I bought a new piece of gear that was supposed to work with either apple or PC. I tried several times to get two of my laptops to work and after several attempts I finally managed to get some stability out of one of my desk tops, (had three at the time). Since I needed to be mobile I decided to spend what I felt was way too much for a used MacBook. I brought the Mac home got all of my cables ready, set aside the rest of the day to update the drivers and tweak the settings etc. imagine my dismay when I plugged in the cable and nothing happened. A blueish disk thing spun around for a few moments and that was it. I was furious, here is another friggen failure, I know nothing about apples os. I just new it, wasted even more money I couldn't really afford, fuck it I may as well fire it up any way....,honey guess what? It works. What? Yes it works, I don't know how but I just plugged it in and it works! Hundreds of shows later guess what? I turn it on and plug it in and it works, first time every time and never ever crashes.
Now back to my PC, I have thousands upon thousands of dollars tied up in recording and mastering software. I can't update my windows program due to drm issues. None of my software is compatible period. I am now at the point to where I hate to turn on my PC. My win doze 7 machine needs about 30 minutes to update before I can even use it. (I only turn on my windows 7 PC every two months or so) I still use my xp machine almost daily with no complaints though, save that it really needs some updating.
And for the very same reasons android is a joke too. Hardware manufactures are liable to change up chipsets in the middle of a production run. And chipsets vary from manufacture to manufacture. That is why for most part android (and windows to a point) are bypassed when it comes to apps that control music gear.
Anyway that is my $.02!
