(62,325 posts)tried to eradicate and discredit it. It has to begin somewhere and I agree, OWS was just the beginning. But OWS didn't really start here. They followed the example of Spain's Indignados who modeled their protests (camping on the public square) on another movement. Spain had already begun to suffer under 'Austerity' and France and there too the people finally began to take action.
And the other frightening thing about OWS was that the first time really, this people's movement was going Global, not confined to individual countries where it easier to squash. I imagine the Global Corps who went Global a while ago were extremely disturbed to see the masses doing the same thing.
Now even in third world countries the poor are out protesting for higher wages. The crackdowns are equally as desperate as they were here.
Imagine if the Third World woke up, and they too did join OWS in many places, imagine the threat that would be to the Corporations and their bottom line.
