When Stewart started to become Joe Sixer's go to for news he ran a series of commercials that said, in exact words, "Stop Doing That!".

He became the de facto pundit because nobody else was doing the job, but it was never his goal.

Good for him, getting back to the show's roots, making fun of whoever deserves it.
