My guess is they did the interview to prove they had a good, strong friendship. I don't think it was an endorsement on his part, or even advocating her to run for office, but the realization she's a very popular figure nationally. Beyond that, though, it's clear Hillary & Obama disagree on a few things - specifically Syria.
